The Delta Woods & Waters Expo, an annual community event sponsored by the City of Spanish Fort and held at 5 Rivers Delta Resource Center, showcases the amazing natural resources of the Mobile-Tensaw Delta while promoting responsible outdoor recreation and appreciation of this environmental treasure. As the “Gateway to the Delta”, it is only natural that Spanish Fort should host this annual festival and that 5 Rivers, Alabama’s Delta Resource Center, partner with us for this 3-day event!
The Delta Woods & Waters Expo is admission-free and entirely supported by the City of Spanish Fort, 5 Rivers Delta Resource Center, monetary and in-kind sponsorships of local and area individuals and businesses, and the time and energy of scores of volunteers.
During two days of Expo field trips, April 28-29, 2022, approximately 500 area students will be engaged in a curriculum of fun and educational activities planned to increase their knowledge of plants and animals of the Delta and to teach them valuable skills for enjoyable and responsible outdoor recreation.
Field trip activities include living history presentations, wildlife identification, hands-on exploration of marine life with touch tanks, small boat handling and safety procedures, as well as an interactive Boy Scout camp which teaches the "Leave No Trace" philosophy of camping.
